How do i approach a local mosques , for advice. i am a woman ,and not Muslim?

I don't know which country you are in, but here in England there are many mosques that welcome women. Meetings, prayers %26amp; classes are held for women %26amp; they sit in a separate room to the men. I'd agree that its best to phone first %26amp; talk to the imam there %26amp; make an appointment. Make sure you wear something 'modest' just out of respect (ie, don't wear a skirt, make sure your legs are covered, dont wear a low fronted top %26amp; dont worry if you don't have anything to cover your head with, Im sure they will let you borrow something.) Im sure they will make you feel welcome %26amp; will be pleased that you are interested in Islam.

Good wishes %26amp; peace. How do i approach a local mosques , for advice. i am a woman ,and not Muslim?

i need to update my reply in the light of your add- on

i was under the impression this was a serious question and i answered it based on my experience as a non Muslim

when i visited a mosque to broaden my knowledge i was fortunate in being able to tag along with a group of school children i learnt a great deal and was made very welcome it was a very enlightening experience it certainly helped me understand their point of view

Why would you go there for advise?

Whats bothering ya!
Phone them first, so they're expecting you. Don't just turn up during prayers
do you have any questions or concerns etc? if you want to talk to a muslima, you can e-mail me with trust
There r several ways:

1-Wait for the mosque Imam to come outside.

2-Ask anyone who is going into mosque to tell mosque Imam that u want to meet him.

3-Send your question on paper with address from the person who is going into the mosque.

4-Search any website or phone number of that mosque so u can contact.

5-Use below links to contact Islamic scholars:

www.onlinefatwa.com/fatawa.php (If u have any question about Islam u can ask from )

www.islam-qa.com (ALSO CAN SUBMIT QUESTION %26amp; referred by info@drzakirnaik.com)

May Allah help %26amp; guide us all, Amen’.
With respect and caution for a religion you may not know much about, not to offend those of their faith. Best thing is phone them. The yellow pages will have mosques listed, your local library or University might also be able to help you. I wouldn't go inside a mosque though. There are restrictions for women I think so you may do something or go somewhere you shouldn't perhaps.
Advice on what?
If you are not a Muslim why would you go there?

Muslim are very anti women.

Pastor Art
hey :) email me frm my profile page. i'll tell u everything u may want to knw. take care and ignore silly ppl on here x
just go, thy are always willing to talk. or you could call and make an appointment w/ the imam
you just enter and ask for some panfletes or something simple :)
It depends really on what type of advice - Best thing to do is ring them and explain to them your situation. They will probably then set up an appointment. Good Luck.x
Salam alaikum great question

Process is as follows

For Jummah or Friday prayers they must have taken shower or Ghusl at home bath or shower and full ablution purificaiton as described in the Hadith Rasool Allah SAW.

Making intention to go to the masjed is just like going to the masjed... if you died on the way, your rewarded it from Allah.

When you get to the mosque turn off your cell phone.. walk to the office if you need help there is always a friendly secretary waiting to help...if your first timer call the masjed and speak to the Imam or someone in the membership and announce yourself and your proclaimation into the faith, you will be graciously accepted and rewarded without ever having to put down 1 dollar ever, other than what is requested to you by Zakat charity 2.5% of your total profit and so on per year.....

If you approach you take your right foot over the the threashold and say ';I ask Allah to open the doors of his mercy upon me'; amin and walk in make intention and make 2 raka for Allah SWT house... and then your to wait for the next schedualed prayer for the Imam to lead and that is all really you need to ever do there.. if you feel you want to help ask they have so many needs its unreal.. we are minority so we support ourselves we have no government backing only through grants...

I hope that helps... if your talking about going to the mosque for the first time for worship.. call they always have something going on.. and ensure its both groups male and female we are created equal and one supports the other like a brick that holds another on a wall...
Make sure you cover your hair and take off your shoes before you enter the mosque. What type of advice are you looking for? Just enter the mosque after Asr Prayer and ask to speak to an Imam. I'm sure one of the Brothers would be glad to talk to you about questions about Islam.
why do you not go to your local church then for advice
prepare to be videotaped?

I really have no idea. thanks for the 2 pts tho\
