Ok I have had the patch before and it made me feel sick so I switched to ortho-tri cyclene lo, it didn't make me feel sick but I gained like 40 pounds and I felt depressed and had mood swings. So I quit taking it and now I have been off birth control for about 4 years, (I am 21) and I am thinking about trying it again but not sure what kind is best. The doctor told me about nuva ring, but I don't want it to have the same weight gain and mood swing effects I've had in the past. Right now my bf and i use the pull out method which has worked for about a uear and a half but I want something more reliable. Have any of you guys had similar experiences??? What do you think is a good bc, since I have had side effects from hormones b4 it makes me weary to try it again? Does nuva ring have less hormones than the pill?What birth control would be best for me? I need women's advice!!!?
You obviously need to discuss this with the physician that will be prescribing it. They are the only ones that can answer that.What birth control would be best for me? I need women's advice!!!?
get yourself an IUD put in, it's going to depend upon how old you are, if you are sexually active and at a young age, touch base with your mom it will be okay,';';';IUD or baby?';';';';
No one can tell you what will work for YOUR BODY. You just have to keep trying.
First I would talk to your doctor, and tell her exactly how you feel about the weight gain.
ALL BIRTH CONTROLS EFFECT WOMEN VERY DIFFERENTLY.
WE can not tell you which birth control to use, because we don't have your body. One birth control could give one women a stroke, and work perfect for the other.
The best thing to do is trial and error. Ask her about nuva ring, about the hormones dosage. If you still feel unsafe about it, try another birth control, maybe with a lower or higher hormone dosage.
They all effect you differently.
i'm 18 years old, and when i was about 17, i tried ortho tri cyclen lo, which i HATED! it made me very emotional and depressed. and the weight gain was horrible. i switched to yaz almost a year ago, and i have put on even more weight with that. it does help with the mood swings, but not as much as it is supposed to. i've heard that any type of birth control will cause weight gain (pill, patch, shot, etc). i don't know much about the nuva ring, but i've heard that it does sometimes come out during sex :S
Many males have what is called pre-ejaculatory fluids (';pre-***';), which does contain sperm and can lead to pregnancy. In addition, many males do not even feel the pre-ejaculatory fluids come out, so sperm can be released into the female before the pre-orgasm pull out occurs. It is critical to remember that any time bodily fluids are exchanged between partners there is also the risk of contracting an STD, including the HIV virus.
Nuva Ring is a hormonal contraceptive. It is rapidly absorbed. Like all hormonal contraceptives, there are risk and they generally carry the same side effects. Look at the patient information for all the risk.
Personally, I can't take hormonal contraceptives for medical reasons. I use condoms or abstinence when I am fertile. Condoms should be used every time in your case to lessen your chance of contracting a STD regardless of the birth control method you use. Of course, abstinence is the only 100% guarantee to prevent pregnancy and contracting a STD.
