I ate a Classic Wrap on wheat @ Bruggers this morning along with water. For lunch, I ate a club sandwich on wheat @ Quiznos. All the while, I was thinking I was eating healthy since the food was on wheat bread with veggies added... low and behold, I've had about 3200 mg of sodium today! (The maximum daily intake suggested is 2400). Now I can't seem to quench my thirst no matter how much water I drink. Any suggestions? By the way, one day of this isn't dangerous is it? I'm pregnant %26amp; thought I was doing good by eating more protein. I didn't realize how much sodium was in lunch meat. Now I'm worried about the baby.Sodium intake shocker... Hi,
I began a very low sodium regimen a year ago and found out that processed meats and even bread have a ton of sodium.
You're thirsty because sodium retains water and your body needs to flush it out, so drink as much water, sipping regularly, as you can and it will flush out.
One day won't hurt the baby and I think it's pretty neat that you are so aware of this.
The nutrition facts label on processed foods gives you the amount of sodium.
Most canned and frozen foods have a ton of sodium and fast food - well, you already found out about the sodium but the sugar and other stuff in fast food makes it not the best choice, even the stuff that seems healthier by comparison.
Here's a lively article about the nutrition fact label:

Fresh fruits, vegetables, most fresh meats and nuts have 0 sodium or very low. Look up low sodium foods and you'll find more!
Sincerely,

One day isn't going to do you any serious harm - and the upside to it is that you were shocked into a realization that many people don't come to, because the classic wrap on wheat and the quiznos wheat do sound healthy - gut good for you for reading the wrapper!
You will be thirsty - and depending on how pregnant you are, there are things you can do to help yourself along. Sweating is one of them. If you are a regular runner, and not feeling too bulky, you can go jog some of that salt out of your system by sweating. If you don't run regularily, you can do some brisk walking -anything that will help you raise a gentle sweat.
Don't worry about the baby - one day's OD isn't going to have serious side effects, but next time, read the label BEFORE you eat the goodies!
good luck to you
You can easily start fresh tomorrow. Processed foods (especially lunch meats!!!) are packed with sodium. You can usually also count on most fast foods, restaurant meals, or sandwich shop meals being pretty high in salt. You are best off preparing fresh meals yourself so you can control the amount of salt going into your food. You may want to be especially careful as well since you are pregnant. If you are a salt-sensitive individual, then too much sodium can put you at risk for pre-eclampsia and just uncomfortable water retention in general.
